Trump trolls with meme of Trump Tower in Greenland - Washington Examiner

President Trump tweeted a meme Monday evening depicting a golden Trump skyscraper adorning the shores of Greenland.

"I promise not to do this to Greenland!" the president quipped, his latest comment on the rumors that he would like to nab the Danish territory for the U.S. in a real estate deal.

Many Twitter users seemingly found the meme funny.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that the president had, "with varying levels of seriousness," asked advisers about the possibility of purchasing the large, resource-rich land mass, which has been subject to Denmark since 1814.

Trump said if the U.S. were to buy Greenland, it would essentially be "a large real estate deal," adding, "A lot of things could be done. It’s hurting Denmark because they’re losing almost $700 million a year carrying it. So they carry it at a great loss. And strategically, for the United States it would be nice." Trump conceded that such a thing was not his top priority.

Greenland's foreign minister asserted that Greenland is "not for sale."
